THE GREATER AMARAVATI (People's Rajadhani)




INTRODUCTION:

            It was the first time capital of  Satavahanas, who ruled from 2nd century BCE to 3rd century CE and at this period Amaravati became capital.Sathavahanas period (230 BCE–220 CE).







After the decline of Satavahanas, Andhra Ikshvakus and later Pallava kings ruled Krishna river valley. Subsequently,Eastern Chalukyas and Telugu Cholas held sway over the region. Kota Kings were in control of Amaravati during the medieval times. Kota kings were subdued by Kakatiyas in 11th century CE and Amaravati became part of the unified Telugu empire.



HISTORY:

Before to Satavahanas,this area ruled by Assaka formally called as Assmaka during 600 BCE and it was one of the Mahajanapadas.It was located in the south of India. During the time of Buddha, this tribe was located on the banks of river Godavari. The capital city of Assaka was known as Potana. It was situated in central India and extended till southern India. It is estimated that Assaka was situated roughly at the place where modern day Maharashtra is located.
During 6th Century BCE India ruled by 16 Mahajanapadas and one among was Assaka.After Assaka this area controlled by Mourya dynasty and later Satavahanas ruled,under their rule they announced the capital to their kingdom was Amaravati.

PRESENT :

Now in India,the name Amaravati became capital to new Andhra Pradesh and stone laid by people beloved Prime Minister Sri.Narendra Modi , Governer Sri.Narasimhan and honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh  Sri.Chandra Babu Naidu.
