Ghazi Attack (Indo-Pak War in 1971)

Ghazi Attack

Introduction:
PNS Ghazi (previously USS Diablo (SS-479); reporting name: Ghazi), SJ, was a Tench-class diesel-electric and the first fast-attack submarine of Pakistan Navy (PN), leased from the United States in 1963.

Ghazi Attack:
In 1971, during the period of East Pakistan fighting for freedom to Bangladesh from Pakistan. To control over East Pakistan, Ghazi has sent by Pakistan to destroy the INS Vikrant (the biggest Aircraft carrier). During the time, the INS Vikrant is not ready for attack due to some internal failures. The commander of INS Vikrant moved it to Andaman Islands to secure from the attack, replaced with the INS Rajput. Indian Navy has fooled spy with INS Rajput with heavy sonar signals that it was INS Vikrant. When Ghazi came to Vishakhapatnam coastal area, came to know that it was not INS Vikrant and placed water mines over the coastal area of Vishakhapatnam.

As per the Indian Records, Due to some under water disturbance INS Rajput has released two charges into water and destroyed Ghazi. Indian navy, credits to INS Rajput has made Ghazi sink.

As per the Pakistan Records, due to some internal failures and explosions from inside of Ghazi caused sink or detonation of its own mine.

Conclusion:
In records, no one has mentioned about S21 karanj Submarine during the Ghazi attack. Mystery need to be concluded.
